Start by attaching the mast base to the board, then slide the mast into the sail sleeve. Secure the boom, and adjust the downhaul and outhaul tensions according to wind conditions.
Place the mast base slightly forward for better upwind performance and slightly back for downwind. Adjust based on wind conditions and rider weight.
When in doubt, simply start with the mast base in the middle and adjust accordingly.
Ensure the daggerboard is fully down, sheet in properly, and keep the mast raked slightly back.

Sam explains the different aspects of the required technique in the video below:
Looser in light wind for more power, tighter in strong wind for better control and reduced drag.
Use a wide stance, keep the sail powered, and shift feet quickly but smoothly during the transition.
In light winds, ease off the downhaul and outhaul slightly to create a fuller sail profile for better power.
Start early, move your front foot across the board, and maintain sail pressure throughout the turn.
Tighten the downhaul for flatter shape in high winds. Use more outhaul to depower and improve pointing ability.
If you notice salt buildup on your mylar Windsurfer LT sail, rinse you sail thoroughly with fresh water and gently wipe with a soft sponge to remove salt buildup. If needed, use mild soap (no harsh chemicals), and always let the sail dry completely before storage.
Best suited for 6- to 20 knots. Higher winds require good control and smaller sail adjustments.
